Momentum
2/21/09
On February 20th, Seattle R.E.I.G.N. joined several Northwest Vietnamese Youth Groups for a Valentine's Day party in Kent called “Momentum”. The goal of the event was to bring forth a new sense of momentum among the youths towards their walk with Christ.
During the event, youth group members from North Seattle, West Seattle, Lynwood, Tacoma, and Kent collaborated and shared a joyful night with food, games/activities, and a message. After enjoying dinner and mingling with each other, everyone came together to sing praise and listen to a short message discussing Major v/s Minor. We learned that it is important for everyone to pay attention to the great big things God has done for humanity and for individuals. We tend to focus on the minor things that are in our lives such as our own personal goals and desires, but God wants us to notice the other works that he has done also. If we learn to look at the major things God has done, we then could give him praise and build up our hope and faith in him as works with each of us individually. Everyone had a great time learning to be more aware of all the wonderful works God has done.
After the message, everyone took time to apply what they learned about Major and Minor by looking at what God has done with missionaries around the world. We read daily news and prayer requests from many missionaries from different nations. We then wrote them letters of encouragements to acknowledge and motivate missionaries on the hard work and dedication they have shown to God through spreading his word to those in need. This was a great opportunity for us to see the great things God has done and we were able to contribute to his cause by reaching out to the hard working missionaries around the world.
The night in Kent was a great success and everyone had a marvelous time learning about God, each other, and other Christians around the world.
